IBM (International Business Machines) was originally incorporated in 1911 in New York as the Computing-Tabulating-Recording Company (CTR), selling mechanical meat slicers and punch-card tabulators before rebranding in 1924 under Thomas J. Watson. Affectionately nicknamed “Big Blue,” the historic company pioneered the modern tech landscape, inventing the mainframe computer, the floppy disk, the ATM, the magnetic stripe card, and the historic IBM Personal Computer in 1981.
